Government agencies were unable to reach hundreds of people who have been left stranded in areas where flood waters were still rising late yesterday in the Central division in the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Mick.
Acting Director DISMAC Pajilia Dobui said their teams were not able to access the lower Rewa delta yesterday due to rising flood waters and arrangements are also being made to carry out aerial surveys in the Yasawa's and Kadavu this morning.
According to Dobui, initial assessments indicate that the Rewa Delta may have been the worst hit.
Dobui adds aerial surveys of the islands in the Western Division, including Beqa will also resume this morning.
DISMAC is also working with the Red Cross to supply ration packs, clean cloths and drinking water to the affected families in the Central and Western division.
The total number of evacuees following the aftermath of cyclone Mick stood at 3,845.
The Western Division recorded the most with 2,081 people.
Several areas remain without power and water supply since Sunday.
The Water Supply Department earlier revealed that water is expected to have been restored in most parts of Viti Levu by 8pm last night.
The Fiji Electricity Authority said they will only restore power to affected areas once they have done a thorough check of a certain grid that there are no broken power lines in the area.
Chief Executive Hasmukh Patel said this will take some time.
