Ousted Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase has today come out and said that there should be some serious thinking on the proposal One Man One Vote System in Fiji.
Qarase's comments comes after the outcome of the 2007 census which has revealed a significant drop in the Indian population now standing at 37.6 percent of the total population compared to the significant increase in the Fijian population to 57.3 percent.
The SDL Leader said his personal view before the last elections was to start heading in a direction to slowly have proportional representation and work towards the One Man One Vote System.
He said these issues now need to be analysed by the leaders of the country.
Qarase also said that it’s about time to have a stable political climate in Fiji as he said the political crisis since 1987 has resulted in the drastic reduction of the Indian population.
