Serious approach needed
Team manager Sale Sorovaki said it is not just about winning the Dubai Sevens tournament but also the IRB Series, which Fiji last won in 2006.
Over the past years, Sevens rugby has grown more competitive and no team in the Sevens code can be taken lightly as rugby nations have also started to take the sport seriously, as it will become part of the 2016 Olympics.
Sorovaki said the coaching staff has been holding meetings with individual players in the team discussing the importance of winning every game.
Sorovaki said coach Iliesa Tanivula may use Jerry Burotu, Sitiveni Waqa and Watisoni Votu in the forwards while captain Emosi Vucago, Mitieli Nacagilevu, Josefa Bole and Nasoni Roko will run in the backs in the first match.
The Dubai Sevens tournament kicks off at 6.20pm this evening with the first match between Fiji and Portugal.
Fiji takes on France at 9.56pm and will battle against England in the last pool match at 3.30am tomorrow morning.
