Former Digicel 7s coach and player, Waisale Serevi said he will take part in the Marist 7s on the 7th and 8th of next month to try to make it into the Fiji team after the Fiji Rugby Union announced that the final selection ground for Hong Kong will be the Marist 7s.
FRU Games Committee Chairman, Rafaele Kasibulu told us on Saturday night that to be considered for Hong Kong, Serevi and other players will need to take part in the Marist 7s next month.
Kasibula said no Fiji player is on suspension or banned to don the white jersey.
Speaking to Village sports this morning, Serevi said he is ready for the Hong Kong test as he is already preparing to go back this year.
Overseas based players William Ryder, Mosese Volavola, Semisi Naevo and Nasoni Roko, are the only exceptions for missing out the local tournaments - and will still be considered for selection to Hong Kong.
Meanwhile, Fiji Rugby Union CEO, Ratu Timoci Tavanavanua, had earlier indicated in a press statement, dated 17th January, 2008, players interested in representing Fiji in Wellington and Hong Kong - were required to participate in the BP National 7s - that was held in Lautoka on the 19th of January.
