The organizers of the Uprising Fiji International 7s tournament will be able to confirm by this afternoon whether Sevens wizard Waisale Serevi will coach the Digicel Matai text select team.

Fijivillage understands a few issues need to be finalized between Serevi and the organizers.

Our offshore sources have reliably informed us that Sevens wizard Serevi has expressed interest to coach the Digicel Matai side, working hand-in-hand with New Zealand 7s team coach Gordon Tietjens, who will act as the Technical Advisor.

Tietjens has already confirmed his presence in the tournament but talks are almost complete with Serevi.

The Digicel Matai text select team will be chosen by the rugby fans in the country by texting the initials of the player’s name.

Meanwhile, the pools of the Uprising Fiji International 7s tournament have been released.

Samoa which is top seed has been grouped in Pool A with Red Rock, Nadroga and the US Grizzlies.

France based Les Bleu lead Pool B with Army, Navy and Auckland based Ponsonby rugby club.

Pool C has been rated the Pool of Death with top guns like New Zealand Maori, Digicel Matai text select team, Samurai and the Uprising team. Fiji leads pool D with Police, Wardens and New Caledonia.

The Uprising Fiji International 7s tournament will be held on the 21st and 22nd of this month at the TFL Stadium.
