Fiji 7s maestro Waisale Serevi is highly likely to get the 7s coaching post again.

Serevi resigned from his post after a misunderstanding when he took the team one week early to the Hong Kong 7s tournament for some promotional work during the 2006/ 2007 IRB World 7s Series.

Serevi has applied for the coaching post and may get the nod because of his experience and achievements in the 7s arena although he does not have the required IRB Coaching Certificate.

He has been regarded as the 7s legend by many rugby pundits and is the only player and coach to help Fiji win the Melrose Cup twice and clinch the IRB World 7s Series title from New Zealand in the 2005/2006 season.

Serevi, who is a top contender to again coach the Fiji 7s team, is likely to be assisted by Flying Fijians coach Ilivasi Tabua. His terms and conditions will only be revealed if and when he is selected.

Meanwhile, FRU Chief Executive Ratu Timoci Tavanavanua few months ago said that Serevi will only be considered if he agrees to their conditions of just coaching the team. The FRU is expected to start their interviews with shortlisted candidates for the Fiji 7s coach and managers post from today and the appointments are expected as early as next week.
