The Fiji Rugby Union has appointed Waisale Serevi as the coach for the Digicel Fiji 7's team to defend the Melrose Cup next year and also lead Fiji's campaign in the IRB 7's series but a lot of conditions will be attached with the appointment which they will decide with Serevi when he returns from England.

Legend FM Sports has established that the FRU board wants Serevi to return only as a coach and not to play but the 7's maestro has made it clear that he wants to play his last 7s rugby game in the Melrose Cup defense in Dubai.

The FRU Games Committee will also oversee the selection of the team as they do not want favoritism in the selection process.

FRU chairman Keni Dakuidreketi said last night that the appointment was made in the best interest of Fiji rugby and the condition will be discussed with Serevi when he returns.

The manager of the Fiji 7s team will be named next week.
