The lawyer of the eight soldiers and police officer, who were yesterday sentenced to four years in jail for the manslaughter of 19 year old Sakiusa Rabaka, is expected to make a decision this week on whether or not to appeal the sentence.

Haroon Ali Shah said he will assess the judgment and sentencing before making a decision.

Yesterday morning Fiji Military Forces Land force Commander Colonel Pita Driti mitigated on behalf of the eight soldiers in the Lautoka high court saying they were dedicated, loyal and obedient men who had never committed any offence under military rule.

Meanwhile, Sakiusa's mother Alanieta said justice has prevailed adding she has accepted the judgment.
