The Senior Citizens in many parts of the country will get special treatment as the week long Senior Citizens Week gets underway from today.
And for the first time, Labasa will be the focal point of the National celebrations together with Tavua.
A cultural cross section of the older population will gather to add their voices on issues of common concern for the senior citizens like health facilities and increase allowances for the rural elderly.
They will also be briefed on the progress on the development of the National Policy for older people.
Taveuni and Rabi Islands have marked the International Day of Older People last week as part of the FCOSS training teams activities and Senior Citizens Week activities will also be celebrated in Vunidawa, Newtown, Nasinu, Serua and Nadroga provinces.
