Police are investigating a case where by a Senior Police Officer in Labasa is alleged to have perverted the course of justice.
Labasa Police confirms a Corporal from the station has reported the matter that a Senior Police Officer told him to release a suspect from custody who was taken in for an alleged assault case.
The alleged incident happened on Thursday morning when the Senior Police Officer called the Corporal into his office and ordered the suspect who is believed to be his relative to be released.
The Corporal refused and was later told off by the Senior Officer.
The Senior Police Officer is expected to be questioned soon.
