The Senior Boys and Girls 4x100 metres relay final of the Suva Zone 1 was not held yesterday as they were told by zone meet officials that the event was under the Coca Cola Games qualifying time.

The officials informed the senior athletes about the decision as they were getting ready for the last event.

Despite the disappointing news for the students, a few records were broken yesterday.

Apisai Dokonibonu of Nasinu Secondary School and Jacob Waqanivalu Waqanivalu of International School Suva have raised their hands as the top contenders for the intermediate boy's 100 metres in next month’s Coca Cola Games.

Dokonibonu clocked a manual time of 10.44 seconds in his heats but was beaten by Waqanivalu in the finals with the manual time of 10.77 seconds.

Meanwhile Donato Toko of Dudley High School has also sent out a clear message to his other Sub Junior Boys competitors in the upcoming Coca Cola Games.

Toko broke the Sub Junior 200 metres record with a manual time of 26.03 seconds and the 400 metres record with a manual time of 59.87 seconds.

The old sub junior boys 200 metres record was 26.47 seconds set by Kapil Jekishan of International School Suva in 1996.

The medal tally presentation will be announced later to the schools due to a technical delay yesterday.

The Tailevu Zone will be held today at the ANZ Stadium while the Coca Cola Games will be held on the 25th and 26th of next month.
