We cannot talk of eradicating child labour and promoting decent work and social justice in a vacuum as Concrete steps needs to be taken.
This was the message the vice president of Fiji Trades Union Congress Tomasi Tokalauvere told participants at a seminar yesterday on world day against child labour with the theme 'Advocating to eliminate child labour-steps ahead'.
Tokalauvere said that the growing number of children working in the country is a deep concern and added to the country's social ills.
Meanwhile, Fiji Trades Union National Secretary Felix Anthony said that the issue of child labour is underestimated in the country.
Anthony says there needs to be more awareness by various stakeholders to eradicate child labour.
The seminar was attended by participants from various organizations and government departments.
