Seidler front-runner for the Oscars
Former Political advisor and speech writer to the late former President Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara, David Seidler who spent a few years in the country, has his work “The Kings Speech” being the frontrunner for Best Picture award.
Seidler got work on a 1960s TV series called “Adventures of the Seaspray”, which was shot in Fiji then ended up in Fiji, serving as a political advisor and speech writer for Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara.
His movie “The Kings Speech” is about the new King of England - King George VI of England.
It details the story of how the King overcomes his stammer.
Many are saying that this is a work of art as Seidler has shown that one can overcome his disability and become famous.
Meanwhile, the Kings Speech ruled at the BAFTAs, winning seven awards including Best Film and Best Actor for Colin Firth.
It also won Outstanding British Film, Best Original Screenplay, supporting acting honours for Helena Bonham Carter and Geoffrey Rush, Best Score and Best Original Screenplay won by Seidler.
Kings Speech along with Black Swan, The Fighter, Inception, The Kids Are All Right, The Social Network, Toy Story 3 and True Grit have all been nominated for best movie at the Oscars.
The Oscars starts at midday today.
