A strong second half has seen Australia surge by Italy in their Pool C Rugby World Cup clash at North Harbour Stadium today.
The Wallabies scored 26 points in the second half after the sides were locked up at 6-6 at the break.
Ben Alexander, Adam Ashley-Cooper and James O’Conner all crossed over within 10 minutes of each other as the Tri Nations and two-time World Cup winners found their groove after a rusty opening half.
Digby Ioane added to Italy’s pain and secured a four try bonus point for the Wallabies as Quade Cooper setup the winger from a scrum set play with 13 minutes remaining.
Captain, James Horwill said that they use their strength to the maximum in the win.
Australia’s next clash should be the match of the pool as they take on Ireland at Eden Park on Saturday.
Meanwhile Italy have a nine day wait to rebound from today’s loss with their next match coming on Tuesday week against Russia.
USA is playing Ireland now while South Africa will take on Wales at 8.30pm.
