The Digicel Fiji 7s team’s aim of finishing second on the overall World Series looks slim now after they were beaten in the Plate semifinal of the Scotland 7s by USA this morning.

Head Coach Alifereti Dere earlier said that they want to retain their second position on the overall table after failing to win the series for the past seven seasons.

Fiji lost to England 15-12 in extra time of the Cup quarterfinal.

Meanwhile, South Africa becomes the first team of the season to claim back to back wins after beating New Zealand in the Scotland 7s final 28-21.

South Africa also won the Japan 7s in March and coach Paul Treu said they deserve the title.
