The Suva High Court has refused bail for the second accused in the alleged murder of Salesh Prakash of Nadawa whose body was found in Sawani last year.

High Court Judge, Justice Salesi Temo heard that the accused, Bharat Lal had made repeated attempts to kill his wife who is expected to be a witness in the trial.

This is the second time that Lal has asked for bail and justice Temo stressed that he had earlier denied bail as the offense of murder was serious and it was rare that murder suspects were allowed bail.

Lal along with Jayant Lal and Moreen Lata Prakash have pleaded not guilty to the murder of Salesh Prakash, a crane operator with Rups Big Bear company.

It is alleged the three conspired to kill Prakash after a drinking party.

They took him to Sawani and ran him over with his own van, which was later found abandoned at Nakasi.

Prakash's body was discovered lying at Waibau along the Sawani Serea Road on June 21, 2009.

Justice Salesi Temo also told the accused that he had already warned him in an earlier bail application hearing and did not want to put members of the public at risk if he let Lal out on bail.

The three are expected to appear in the High Court again on the 21st of this month.
