The search for two people who were missing at sea has ended tragically, after their bodies were discovered late yesterday afternoon on the beach near Vunibau village, Serua.
Three people left Raviravi Village in Beqa at around 11am yesterday conveying a sick person to Navua Hospital in a fibre glass boat.
Two of the four people were rescued while Navua Police and boat owners from Beqa Island assisted in the search for the missing two.
Police Chief of Operations, ACP Rusiate Tudravu is stressing the need for people to take ownership of their safety. A group was also stopped as they were wanting to travel to an outer island for a funeral.
As other details are forthcoming ACP Tudravu is further urging mariners and those living in outer islands to be cautious and wary of the current weather conditions and avoid unnecessary travel.
