Search continues for Supervisor of Elections
At a press conference in the last hour, Interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum revealed that after assessing the applications, there was no one who qualified to take up the post and they have no other option but to continue their quest to look for a suitable candidate.
Sayed-Khaiyum said they will have to extend their search for the Supervisor of Elections abroad and will be advertising the post shortly to attract others who would be suitable to assist the interim government in preparation to hold general elections in Fiji.
The interim government will also inform the European Union and the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum of the decision to continue the search for the Supervisor.
The Interim Attorney General said that they are also in the process of appointing members of the Constituency Boundaries Commission.
Meanwhile Sayed-Khaiyum said this process will not affect the earlier time frame set for the elections.
