Work is underway to create an extra lane on Scott Street near the Suva Market to avoid traffic congestion.

One of the Directors of Tappoos Group of Companies, Mahendra Tappoo said that they had sought permission from the Suva City Council earlier to cut back the size of the Island to create another lane.

He said the step has been taken to allow for better traffic flow in the area and allow people to turn into the New Tappoos car park.

Meanwhile, work on the New Tappoos Building is nearing completion. Mahen Tappoo said that they hope to open the doors for their six storeys building in early December. He said the new building will consist of Tappoos occupying three storey's for departmental stores while one storey will have a food court and other shops whereas the other two storey's will be used as car parks.
