This weekend’s Scotland 7s is an important tournament as it will determine who will be crowned the overall Series Winner and Samoa is leading the race.

At the moment, Samoa sit on 140 points while New Zealand sit on 133 points and third comes the winners in last weekend’s England 7s, Australia.

There are 20 points up for grabs at this weekend’s tournament and a final win for Samoa, would be very special as this would mean the first time ever the Title will go to the small island nation.

Meanwhile, defending Scotland 7s title, the Digicel Fiji 7s team will be out to defy the odds stacked against them.

Coach Iliesa Tanivula said that following the sides dismal performance in London, the players have been told that this Tournament is important for the national side as well as for the country, following a lot of negative comments.

At the moment, the Fiji side sits on the fourth place with 103 points, and though they do not stand a chance of bagging the 2009-2010 IRB Title, the young team still has the chance of bagging third overall position in the IRB World Series.

Fiji is in Pool D with hosts Scotland, USA and Wales and we will take on Scotland in our opening pool match on Saturday at 11:09pm.

Fiji then plays Wales early Sunday morning at 2:35am and their last pool match will be against USA at 5:17am.
