Schoolwork and sports should not mix.

This is the advice from Education Minister Filipe Bole following reports that a number of schools have started preparing for the Coca Cola Games.

Bole said that some of the schools which are actively participating in sports competitions are amongst those with poor examination results.

He adds the time students spend in training is indicative of the free time at the students disposal, which according to him, should be spent for remedial programs.

Bole stresses that for too long students have been used to bring glory to teachers for winning sports competitions with minimum benefits directed to them.

He said students must be told that winning medals in sports is good but having a good education and later a decent job is much better.

The Coca Cola Games will be held on the 30th April and 1st May at the TFL National Stadium.
