Minister for Education Doctor Mahendra Reddy has now informed all schools across the country to complete their enrolment as per the School Zoning Policy by this Friday.

Doctor Reddy says the enrolment for Year 1 to 12 students should be done by the end of this week before the school can start the intake of other students from outside their zones who had shown interest to join the school.

He says from Monday 14th November, all schools that have spaces available can take in students who expressed their interest to enroll there but were out of the zone.

Doctor Reddy says this must be strictly carried out under first come first serve basis.

The Education Minister says all school heads have been advised to ensure that this exercise is fairly carried out without any special treatment or bias for anyone.

Doctor Reddy advises parents and guardians within the 2km zone to visit the schools in their zones and make the necessary arrangements for the enrolment of their children.

The Ministry stresses that under the current government, education is compulsory from Year 1 to 12 and under no circumstance can a child be forcibly stopped from enrolling to the next grade.

Some schools in the Suva to Nausori area will also have additional classrooms next year to accommodate the increase in student enrolment numbers due to internal migration.

These schools include Saint Marcellin Primary, Narere Primary, Samabula Primary, Annesley Infant School, Namosi Catholic, Tacirua Primary, Tamavua Primary, Marist Brothers Primary, Adi Cakobau School, Davuilevu Methodist High, Pundit Shreedhar Maharaj College, Basden College, Christian Mission Fellowship and Amazing Grace Kindergarten in Sakoca.
