The Education Ministry is hopeful that all the primary schools around the country will be provided with free text books before the end of this term.
Minister Filipe Bole said as the distribution of text books will begin in the North today, schools in Viti Levu will also benefit from the programme in the coming days.
The Northern phase of the free textbook distribution programme will cover all of the Primary Schools in the region.
The Education Ministry had confirmed that this includes primary schools in Taveuni, Rabi, Savusavu, Labasa and Bua.
Bole said the Western Division schools are expected to receive their textbooks by next week and the Ministry is targeting rural and remote schools first.
To date schools in the Eastern Division, in Lau, Kadavu, Lomaiviti and Rotuma have all been supplied with their textbooks.
