The school where the physical assault of the 8 year old student occurred last week has now decided to review its security operations and the movement of students when they enter the school premises.

Fijivillage has now managed to get information that the toilet where the young girl was found is located outside the school premises.

It has been established that a few years ago the school management had decided to use the toilet for class 3 students although it is located outside the school fenced off area.

The school has now decided that the gate leading to the toilet outside should be permanently locked.

Fijivillage has also received confirmation that the school has decided that the school gates will be locked as soon as all students enter the premises in the morning.

They have also decided to change their gate which is partly damaged and repair the school fence which has a number of holes.

Some of the fencing is located right next to the classrooms.

The Education Ministry has already stated that everyone needs to act now so that we can weed out degrading acts of violence on children.

Minister Filipe Bole stressed that schools must step up their security operations and in that regard, all teachers must be at school before time and teachers on duty must make round checks to ensure that everyone is at the right place.

The 8 year old girl is still admitted in hospital and is in serious condition.

Meanwhile, the Head Teachers Association is calling on parents to seriously consider the time they drop off their children to school.

Association President Jai P Narayan confirmed that some parents drop off their children in schools as early as 6.30 in the morning when no one is in the school.
