Schools in the Central, Western and Northern division have been directed to open for classes today.
Education Minister Filipe Bole said only those schools affected by hurricane Tomas will be allowed to remain closed. These include the ones in the Eastern and Northern division.
He said the divisional education officers will assess the situation of the schools before making a decision on which schools will be closed.
The Public Service Commission advises that the civil service will be operational today.
PSC Permanent Secretary Parmesh Chand said all civil servants are to report to work today.
