The Fiji School of the Blind yesterday unveiled their new Braille software system worth $47,000.

Education Minister Filipe Bole while launching the Braille Unit told the close to 30 vision impaired students present that this was a huge break through for them as it now enabled them to be on the same standing as any normal student.

Bole told the students that the challenge now was for them to be as good as any normal student, read better and excel.

The 12 piece equipment worth $47,000 was bought through a partnership with the E Education Ministry as well as through donations from AusAid.

Meanwhile, vision impaired school teacher, Sofaia Caulala while giving her vote of thanks told those in attendance that it was a daily struggle for students with vision problems, where they had to struggle everyday to catch up with normal students.

She added that it was only through the new Braille system where the students would now be able to get their text books on time.
