The hard economic times has not spared students with the Fiji School of the Blind revealing that they are now embarking on a huge donation drive to fund operations.
School Board President, Kathryn Hawley revealed that two of their major sponsors pulled out their backing of the school and its community based rehabilitation program and the students are now looking at fundraising.
Meanwhile, community worker Vishwa Singh also said that their 6 field workers are swamped with the number of people needing help but cannot provide any form of assistance as money is a problem.
At the moment, 385 people are being helped at community level while 61 students are being put through schools by the Society.
The Fiji School of the Blind is the only national institute which caters for the blind and visually impaired students.
