The management committee of the Votualevu Public School in Nadi are currently in a meeting to discuss what temporary measure can be taken to minimize the disruption of classes following yesterday's fire.

A fire destroyed three classrooms, staff room and the school office along with the Annual Exam papers yesterday afternoon.

School Committee President, Dhirendra Nath said they have put forward a proposal to the Education Ministry to have the students sit for their external exams at other schools, as a temporary measure.

Nath said teachers will have to prepare the papers again.

The estimated cost of damage and cause of fire is not known yet.

Meanwhile, earlier this week fire destroyed part of Lautoka Muslim Primary school forcing over 500 students to stay home.
