School Starts Next Week
Interim Education Minister Filipe Bole said they have already deferred the opening of school and this will not change unless there are some major changes in the weather.
The Education Ministry has also issued a directive that no school student is to be sent home for non-payment of fees as part of their package to assist school children affected by the nationwide flooding.
The Ministry said they will be releasing tuition fee grants to schools in the first week of school, both primary and secondary, that have been affected by the flood as early as possible in the first week of term one.
These funds are to enable school managements to purchase essential teaching and learning resources and also to provide free teaching materials that are in stock, as soon as possible.
The Ministry will also be providing additional financial assistance to affected schools to ensure that all students have proper writing materials and textbooks.
Students who do not have uniforms are allowed to wear mufti, provided it is respectable and neat.
School is expected to start next Monday.
