If we want to live in a multi-racial society, a review of the three types scholarships handed out by government is needed.
Public Service Commission Chairman Rishi Ram said that the Commission agrees with the move by Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama calling for a review of the FAB, Multi Ethnic and PSC scholarships.
According to Ram, the committee has already been established so that equal opportunity is given to all students regardless of race but based on the students school result.
Ram also added that at the moment, scholarships are divided under three departments, some handled by the PSC, Fijian Affairs Board and Multi Ethnic Affairs and they are also looking at cost cutting under the new review.
Commodore Bainimarama had informed cabinet that the aim of the review will be to provide assistance to deserving students without any discrimination.
