Ireland coach Joe Schmidt has given the All Blacks some tips on how they can beat France in their quarter final clash on Sunday morning.

The match between Ireland and France was close for a while before mistakes cost the French 10 points in the first half, one a penalty to Ireland for offside, another when Wesley Fofana was storming through off a lineout tap that was called back.

If the calls go France's way next week, then maybe they have a chance, but they just do not look good enough.

Schmidt says the lineout should be New Zealand's first point of attack. Ireland targeted it and they had huge success either winning the jump outright or causing scruffy possession off bad deflections.

The second success for Ireland was the scrum. Over the years France have demolished Ireland's scrum. It is a point of macho pride for the French. They have valued the scrum above all else. When their front row gets their rhythm everything else flows on.

Ireland also went after France's No 10, Freddie Michalak which stopped the ball to flow through to their fast backlines.

The All Blacks will take on France at 7am Sunday.

In the other quarters, South Africa will face Wales at 3am Sunday, Ireland will take on Argentina at 12am while Australia will take on Scotland at 3am Monday.
