21-year-old Iranian, Loghman Sawari who fled to Fiji from Papua New Guinea, is now at the Nadi International Airport Departures Area.

As reported earlier this morning, Sawari was taken into immigration custody just after 7.30 this morning.

His lawyer, Aman Ravindra-Singh says they are trying to contact the Director of Immigration, Nemani Vuniwaqa.

Earlier today, 21-year-old Iranian Loghman Sawari has now been taken in by the police and immigration officials as he was on his way to the Immigration Department in Suva to meet with the Director Nemani Vuniwaqa later this morning.

Sawari who fled to Fiji from Papua New Guinea was on his way to Suva from the Western Division with his lawyer Aman Ravindra-Singh.

As we reported about 30 minutes ago Sawari and Singh were in Korotogo Sigatoka at about 7.30 this morning when their vehicle was intercepted by police and he was then taken into a police vehicle.      

According to Singh, Sawari was quickly put in an Immigration Department vehicle in Sigatoka Town.

Singh is now chasing the vehicle to get some answers.

We have received information that Sawari came with a PNG passport.

He is a declared refugee in PNG and he also had misleading information on his Immigration Arrival Card.

Director of Immigration Nemani Vuniwaqa could not be reached for a comment this hour.
