In an effort to increase tourist numbers in Savusavu the Northern Transnational crime unit has an office at the new Fiji Island Revenue and Customs Authority in Savusavu.

Director National Intelligence Bureau, Senior Superintendent of Police Henry Brown said the office was long due for Savusavu Town especially now when it will be proclaimed as a port of entry.

SSP Brown said that the office would be use to investigate transnational cases, drug smuggling, Asian organized crime, tax evasion and strengthening border patrols.

The office has been equipped by the Australian Federal Police which has been a long time partner of the Transnational crime unit since its inception in 2002.

Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama officially opened the new Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority office in Savusavu on Wednesday.
