Coca Cola Games Blue Ribbon champion Mataiasi Savou will not take part at the National Athletics Championship on Saturday.
Savou is part of the Suva Grammar School's Under-19 team that will challenge for the Uluinaceva Shield against Nasinu Secondary at the Southern Zone Schools rugby tournament that will be held on the same day.
Fiji Athletics Association President Albert Miller said they will be using the tournament to select a squad to prepare for the Pacific Games next year.
He added Savou is an asset to athletics, but it is up to him what he decides to do and they will not force him.
The National Athletics Championship will also include 16 athletes from America and the games kick off at 9am on Saturday at the TFL Stadium.
