Former Digicel Fiji 7s rugby coach, Josateki Savou has been called in to become the assistant coach in the current team.
Fiji Rugby Unions High Performance Unit Manager, Talemo Waqa confirmed that Savou will start off with the team today.
This follows an assessment of the Fiji team’s performance by the FRU board.
Waqa said it is clear that Digicel Fiji 7s coach, Iliesa Tanivula needs assistance.
Waqa confirmed that the Prisons Commissioner has also given the go ahead for Savou who is a prisons officer, to camp and travel with the team.
The NZ 7s will kick off in Wellington next Friday.
The Fiji team will be announced tomorrow.
Tanivula who returned from Darwin last night is expected to comment in the next hour.
