The lawyer for All Black winger Julian Savea said his client is likely to be granted diversion on his assault charge next month.

The 22 year old was due to appear in Wellington District Court this morning on a charge relating to a domestic incident with his partner earlier this year.

But a court registrar said the player's attendance was excused and the matter would be adjourned until next month.

Meanwhile, in the Rugby Championship, the All Blacks will play Argentina at 10.40am next Sunday while the Springboks will take on the Wallabies at 3am.
