Hurricanes and All Blacks winger Julian Savea has been charged with assault after a domestic incident.

The charge relates to a domestic incident last Sunday.

He will appear in the Wellington District Court tomorrow.

Hurricanes CEO James Te Puni said they are disappointed to have the situation emerge, but they must now let the judicial process run its course.

He said he has spoken with Julian who is deeply upset to be in this position and now needs to deal with the situation.

Nicknamed ‘The Bus’, Savea’s blockbusting style of play has earned him comparisons with All Black great Jonah Lomu.

Meanwhile, in the super rugby matches last night and this morning, the Brumbies and the Reds battled to a thrilling 19-all draw.

The Bulls thrashed the Kings 34-nil, the Crusaders beat the Highlanders 24-8 while the Cheetahs pulled off a hard fought 12-6 derby victory against the Sharks.
