Save the Children Fiji has spent more than $100,000 providing
stationery, bus fares and lunches to the under privileged students of Vatukoula, Tavua.

Chief Executive Officer, Chandra Shekhar said this assistance was provided to several schools in Vatukoula for those students whose parents were employed at Vatukoula Gold Mine.

He adds that $30,000 worth of stationery was provided to more than 500 students at the beginning of this year and they are extending their assistance to the other parts of the communities facing hardship.

Shekhar said they are also ensuring that there is no abuse of their assistance and he adds that another program will start at the beginning of the second term.
