Save the Children Fiji Chief Executive Officer is calling on the Education Ministry to be more vigilant and to counsel their teachers so that they become more understanding.
Chandra Shekhar's comment comes after an incident last week where a school principal assaulted a 16 year old student after she did not close her eyes during a prayer session.
Shekhar said their organization objects such actions and that the law should take its course and handle their teachers, as innocent children are being the victims of violence.
The student was assaulted with a pipe causing 5 linear bruises across her backside.
