Samoa rugby team skipper Mahonri Schwalger believes his side can still survive the pool of death to make the quarterfinals.

Samoa blew a chance to upset Wales yesterday and had to be content with a bonus point in losing 17-10 in Hamilton.

It has left Pool D extremely tight.

Reality suggests it is a far tougher assignment.

Samoa has a week to prepare to play Fiji, a game they should win.

But their final match is against world champions South Africa and it will have everything hanging on it.

Meanwhile, Schwalger was not so happy about a disallowed try to flanker Maurie Fa’asavalu in the first half because of a double movement.

Samoa will take on Fiji at 2.30pm this Sunday and you can catch the live commentary on our sister station Viti FM with the voice of rugby Malakai Veisamasama and expert comments from Ilivasi Tabua.

Meanwhile, tomorrow at 7.30pm, Italy will take on Russia, while at 7.30pm on Wednesday, Tonga will play Japan.
