The Samoa Sevens team to Hong Kong suffered a blow as their captain Ofisa Treviranus has been ruled out.

Treviranus was injured while playing at the Rugby World Cup Sevens tournament in Dubai and failed to recover in time.

Coach Moors said Treviranus’s absence is a setback, but there's a good feeling in the squad and the disappointment at not making the World Cup finals is becoming a war-cry and challenge heading to Hong Kong and Adelaide.

He said Samoa is going to Hong Kong and Adelaide to win, but it won't be a surprise if any of the other teams in the top 10 or 12 wins the tournaments.

Samoa is pooled with Fiji, Canada and Chinese Taipei in Hong Kong, which starts next Friday.
