The Samoa 7s team to Hong Kong suffered a blow, as their captain Ofisa Treviranus has been ruled out.

Treviranus was injured while playing at the Rugby World Cup 7s tournament in Dubai and failed to recover in time.

Moors said Treviranus absence is a setback, but there's a good feeling in the squad and the disappointment at not making the World Cup finals is becoming a war-cry and challenge heading to Hong Kong and Adelaide.

He said Samoa is going to Hong Kong and Adelaide to win, but it won't be a surprise if any of the other teams in the top 10 or 12 win the tournaments.

Samoa is pooled with Fiji, Canada and Chinese Raipei in Hong Kong, which starts next Friday.
