Samoan head coach Viliamu Punivalu believes he has a squad ready to defend the Dubai Sevens title this weekend.

The Islanders defeated World Sevens Series and World Cup champions New Zealand 26-14 last year to clinch the title.

Punivalu said they have decided to take a different strategy on their approach to the selection process.

Samoa is pooled with South Africa, Argentina and Russia.

Fiji’s first game in the Dubai 7s is against USA at 8.16pm this Friday, then Canada at 12.46am Saturday before facing England in their last pool match at 5.02am Saturday.
