Samoa thumped Niue 47-0 in their first game and beat Australia 35-12 in their second pool game.

Boosting their performances are the likes of seasonal players like Lolo Lui, Uale Mai, David Lemi and Ofisa Trenvius.

Meanwhile the Digicel Fiji 7's side opened their campaign with a 21-0 win against Tonga.

Laced with several new faces, the Setefano Cakau led side ran in 3 unanswered tries and now will face Papua New Guinea this hour.

Coach, Josateki Savou used the likes of James Brown, Livai Ikanikoda, Timoci Davu, Waisale Dau, Watisoni Votu and Semi Ratudradra in the opening game.

PNG held Tonga to a 12-all draw in the first game of the tournament.

In other results, American Samoa beat New Caledonia 38-7, Cook Islands edged Solomon Island 19-7, Niue had a close 19-12 win against Cook Islands, PNG beat American Samoa 21-19.
