The National sevens rugby side is expected to meet either Samoa, England or Portugal in the USA 7s quarterfinals barring any upsets.
If Fiji makes it into the semifinals, then they are expected to play either South Africa, Kenya, Wales, Argentina or France.
Defending champion South Africa has won the USA 7s title twice in the last three years and captain Kyle Brown told irb.com that the narrow Sam Boyd Stadium pitch is good for their style of play.
Brown missed the last year’s 40-21 final win over New Zealand due to injury.
The national side finished fourth in Vegas last year after losing to Samoa 36-31 in the playoffs.
The USA 7s will kick off this Saturday and Fiji will play Scotland at 1:06pm before meeting Australia at 4:02pm.
The final pool game is against New Zealand at 9:50am this Sunday and the quarterfinals will start at 1:52pm Sunday.
The semifinals will kick off at 7:32am next Monday while the final will be held at 10:25am.
