Former Nadi lock, Radike Samo scored a try for the Queensland Reds and helped them punish the Melbourne Rebels to claim a 33-18 victory last night and take the lead in the Australian Super rugby conference.

First five Quade Cooper, who added 13 points with the boot, was not at his brilliant best but his Wallabies halfback partner Will Genia was irresistible as the Reds got back to winning ways after their upset loss to the Hurricanes last week.

In other matches played last night, the Blues beat the Hurricanes 17-11 and the Cheetahs thumped the Lions 53-19.

In tonight's match at 7:35pm the Chiefs meet the Highlanders, and at 9:40pm the Waratahs meet the Force.
