Fiji born Radike Samo is aiming for a "gold and green" jersey at the World Cup in New Zealand, after being named in the squad on Sunday.

At 35 years, it makes perfect sense that Samo would have a paternal influence on younger teammates, but he has denied a rumour he is Test halfback Will Genia's father.

Seven years after making his Test debut, Samo said his Queensland Reds team mates teased him and Genia about being father and son.

The Reds nicknamed Genia 'Rusi' after Samo's nine year old son, who is almost as tall as the 174cm halfback.

After playing for the Fiji under-19 side, Samo moved to Australia and played for the Brumbies from 2000 to 2006.

He became the first Australian player to win three Super Rugby titles when the Reds beat the Crusaders in Brisbane last Saturday night, and a coincidence as it was his birthday.

The Wallabies meet Samoa at 4pm on Sunday.
