Safety Of Passengers Drivers Responsibility-LTA
Referring to the accident which claimed four lives yesterday afternoon at Savutalele, Tacirua, LTA's Media Officer Eroni Volavola said the driver was responsible for the safety of his passengers however the LTA said they will also be doing their own assessment of the accident and would help the insurance company if families of the passengers will pursue the matter legally and seek compensation.
The LTA say they will also be looking at the mini bus being used along Princes Rd as it should have been using the Kings Rd, which is its normal and approved route.
Meanwhile, Police Spokesperson, Atunaisa Sokomuri said the relatives of the two other deceased have still not turned up at the hospital and they are urging members of the public to see the Doctors at CWM hospital if their family members are missing from home.
According to Police the four died at the scene of the accident after a PWD truck collided head on with the mini bus.
Works Ministry Spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete said they are also carrying out their own investigations into the accident as a ministry vehicle was involved and a report is expected to be given to Interim Transport Minister, Timoci Natuva next week.
