Rescue workers from the Western division tried all they could to try to reach Tukaraki village in Ba to assist the family of four trapped inside their home yesterday afternoon.
Unfortunately the rescuers could not make it to the house and a call was then made by DISMAC for the community to try and assist.
A call was made to the nearby village of Nanuku to try and rescue the family.
However the conditions prevented anyone from reaching the house affected by continuous landslides.
DISMAC confirmed that a father, mother and their two daughters aged 3 years and 1 year have passed away, bringing the total death toll to 6.
The family of four were stuck inside their home following the landslide at about 4pm yesterday and authorities.
DISMAC Principal Management officer Joji Satakala said this is tragic news.
Satakala said continuous landslides, heavy rain and rising flood waters prevented the workers from reaching the stranded family.
Meanwhile, Police Spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said a police team is on its way to Tukaraki village.

A sad ending for a family of four in Ba as DISMAC confirmed that a father, mother and their two daughters have passed away after a landslide in Ba yesterday.
The family of four was stuck inside their home following a landslide in Tukaraki village, Yakete, Ba at about 4pm yesterday and authorities had made a call for nearby villagers to assist them.
We had also made the call for assistance in our bulletins yesterday.
However DISMAC Principal Management officer Joji Satakala confirmed that they had received the official confirmation from the Commissioner Western about the four deaths.
He said that the search for the father, mother and 2 children was called off as it was too risky for the rescuers as there were continuous landslides.
Meanwhile, Police Spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said they will go to Tukaraki village later today.
