The Suva Grammar Lions Under-19 team came out strongly against Nasinu Secondary in the Southern Zone finals yesterday to win by 18-3, to secure a spot in the National quarterfinals.

Marist Brothers High School also came out winners in their playoffs against Nabua and edged them by 7-0.

Nabua Secondary took Marist to the wire in the dying minutes of the match but the boys from Flagstaff prevailed when their defence stood its ground.

In other results from yesterday's Southern Zone finals: in the U-14 grade SGS drew with Marist 5 all but they will finish as the number one team after they recorded more wins in the round robin games.

In the U-15 grade, Marist beat Suva Grammar 10 nil while SGS won the U-16 grade beating Dudley High School 17 points to 3.

MBHS beat SGS 12-8 in the U-17 final while in the U-18 grades Suva Grammar turned the table around on Marist winning by 16-11.

The National quarterfinals are scheduled for July 26th.
